Yesterday, 12/5/2009, Jim Rohn passed away.

He has been for a long time hailed as the most influential speaker and thinker of America.

That is a great loss for us all who have been exposed to his message.

I will miss him.

Jim Rohn's Biography

For more than 40 years, Jim Rohn honed his craft like a skilled artist—helping people the world over sculpt life strategies that have expanded their imagination of what is possible. Those who had the privilege of hearing him speak can attest to the elegance and common sense of his material. It is no coincidence, then, that he is widely regarded as one of the most influential thinkers of our time, and thought of by many as a national treasure. There is one special quality that you can develop that will guarantee you greater success, accomplishment and happiness in life. Of a thousand principles for success developed over the ages, this one quality or practice will do more to assure that you accomplish wonderful things with your life than anything else. This quality is so important that, if you don't develop it to a high degree, it is impossible for you to ever achieve what you are truly capable of achieving.

The quality that I am talking about is the quality of self-discipline. It is a habit, a practice, a philosophy and a way of living. All successful men and women are highly disciplined in the important work that they do. All unsuccessful men and women are undisciplined and unable to control their behaviors and their appetites. And when you develop the same levels of high, personal discipline possessed by the most successful people in our society, you will very soon begin to achieve the same results that they do.

All great success in life is preceded by long, sustained periods of focused effort on a single goal, the most important goal, with the determination to stay with it until it is complete. Throughout history, we find that every man or woman who achieved anything lasting and worthwhile, had engaged in long, often unappreciated hours, weeks, months and even years of concentrated, disciplined work, in a particular direction.

Fortunately the quality of self-discipline is something that you can learn by continuous practice, over and over, until you master it. Once you have mastered the ability to delay gratification, the ability to discipline yourself to keep your attention focused on the most important task in front of you, there is virtually no goal that you cannot accomplish and no task that you cannot complete.

Every act of self-discipline strengthens every other discipline in your life. Every weakness of self-discipline weakens your other disciplines as well. When you make a habit of disciplining yourself in little things, like flossing your teeth every night, you'll soon become able to discipline yourself to accomplish even larger things, like working long, long hours to bring a major task to completion.

Your entire life is an on-going battle between the forces of doing what is right and necessary on the one hand and doing what is fun and easy on the other hand. It is a battle between the forces of discipline and the forces of ease or expediency. And when you develop the strength of character that gives you complete self-mastery, self-control and self-discipline, you feel wonderful about yourself. You develop a deep inner sense of strength and confidence. You replace positive thinking with positive knowing. You reach the point inside where you absolutely know that you can do whatever it takes to achieve any goal that you can set for yourself.

Self-discipline is its own reward. Not only does it pay off in terms of greater self-esteem and a more positive mental attitude, but it pays off throughout your life in terms of the goals that you achieve and the success that you attain in everything you do.

Self-discipline is a skill and a habit that can be learned by practice. Every time you practice a little self-discipline, you become stronger and stronger. that my children grow and find success at school;
that my friends still stay my friends and their friendship allow me to make progress in all possible ways;
that I make lots of money so that the money matter turns to a true success story;
and that every human being realise we are all from the same planet and that what differenciate us is really petty compared to the things we share in common. Hence we become kind, full of love for all our fellow brothers the human.

Those are the wishes I hold for myself.

Men and women search their entire lives looking for fame and fortune without attaining either. Why?

Discipline is indispensable in all leadership.

What are you thinking about right now?

The Law of Attraction states that "whatever we think about, we bring about". This law may initially seem like new age fluff but believe it or not, there are scientific merits to this proposition. The top quantum physicists of our time have discovered that our universe and our reality is very much directed by the "observer".

When studying quantum particles (the smallest observable unit of matter), these scientists discovered that such particles behave in accordance with the person conducting the experiment. If the scientists "predict" that quantum particles behave in a certain way, they do. And yet, if the scientists "predict" that quantum particles behave in another way, they do. It is the "observer" that dictates the outcome of the experiment!

What does all this mean for us normal people?

Well actually, these scientific experiments has far reaching implications for us as our world is made up of these same quantum particles! In this case, we are the "observer" the director and hence the creator of our reality, our world and our experience.

So, be careful of what you think about!

For example, have you thoughts ever begun with the following phrases:

I don’t understand…

I don't want...

I’m frustrated that…

I hate my…

I can’t figure out …

I’m stressed about…

I’m worried that…

I should be able to… but I can’t…

Why am I having so much trouble?

The Law of Attraction is indifferent to the words preceding your thought. Whatever you think about you will attract into your life.

When you think "I don't understand why bad things always happen to me?", you are "attracting" bad things into your life.

When you think "I want to get out of debt", you are attracting more debt into your life.

When you think "I'm worried I will get sick", you are attracting sickness into your life!

The Law of Attraction brings about what you focus on even if it is not what you want. Get it?

If you understand this principle, here are some examples of how to make the law of attraction work to support you rather than to act against you. Try observing your thoughts and changing your thinking in the following way:

"I want to get out of debt" to "I want to earn amazing riches"

"I hate my boss" to "I look forward to owning my own business"

"I don't understand why he is so lazy" to "I love it when he helps out around the house"

"I'm stressed about this project" to "I always create amazing results in my projects"

"I'm worried about getting sick" to "I experience vibrant health daily"

Now that we have a better understanding of the Law of Attraction, it is no surprise why so many people struggle with regards to money.

It is been said that "the rich get richer while the poor get poorer".

This is actually the Law of Attraction in action. Because the wealthy have money, they often think about how to best use their money and hence they attract more money. The poor on the other hand often think about their present lack of money and unfortunately, that also attracts lack into their lives. Currently, 96% of the world's wealth is being earned by just 1% of the population!

If you find yourself bearing the wrath of others because of your dreams or beliefs, you may be wearing the mark of the achiever.

In other words, don’t be afraid if you are criticized – you’re in good company.

You’re in the company of Noah, who was criticized for building a boat in the middle of the desert. You’re in the company of Booker T. Washington, who had the audacity to educate southern blacks. You’re in the company of George Washington Carver, who was urged not to waste so much time on a tiny peanut. You’re in company of Galileo, who was criticized for postulating that the earth revolved around the sun, and of Moses, who led a group of people from nowhere to somewhere for forty years. You’re walking the path blazed by Nelson Mandela, whose unquenchable thirst for freedom liberated a nation.

The Practice of Discipline

Discipline yourself to do what you know you need to do to be the very best in your field. Perhaps the best definition of self-discipline is this: "Self-discipline is the ability to make yourself do what you should do when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not."

It is easy to do something when you feel like it. It's when you don't feel like it and you force yourself to do it anyway that you move your life and career onto the fast track.

What decisions do you need to make today in order to start moving toward the top of your field? Whatever it is, either to get in or get out, make a decision today and then get started. This single act alone can change the whole direction of your life.

Seven Steps to Success
There is a powerful seven step formula that you can use to set and achieve your goals for the rest of your life. Every single successful person uses this formula or some variation of this formula to achieve vastly more than the average person. And so can you. Here it is:

Decide What You Want
Step number one, decide exactly what it is you want in each part of your life. Become a "meaningful specific" rather than a "wandering generality."

Write it Down
Second, write it down, clearly and in detail. Always think on paper. A goal that is not in writing is not a goal at all. It is merely a wish and it has no energy behind it.

Set A Deadline
Third, set a deadline for your goal. A deadline acts as a "forcing system" in your subconscious mind. It motivates you to do the things necessary to make your goal come true. If it is a big enough goal, set sub-deadlines as well. Don't leave this to chance.

Make A List
Fourth, make a list of everything that you can think of that you are going to have to do to achieve your goal. When you think of new tasks and activities, write them on your list until your list is complete.

Organize Your List
Fifth, organize your list into a plan. Decide what you will have to do first and what you will have to do second. Decide what is more important and what is less important. And then write out your plan on paper, the same way you would develop a blueprint to build your dream house.

Take Action
The sixth step is for you to take action on your plan. Do something. Do anything. But get busy. Get going.

Do Something Every Day
Do something every single day that moves you in the direction of your most important goal at the moment. Develop the discipline of doing something 365 days each year that is moving you forward. You will be absolutely astonished at how much you accomplish when you utilize this formula in your life every single day.

Action Exercises
Here are two things you can do to put these ideas into action immediately.

First, decide exactly what you want, write it down with a deadline, make a plan and take action -- on at least one goal -- today!

Second, determine the price you will have to pay to achieve this goal and then get busy paying that price - whatever it is.

7. COMPETENCE

Sometimes good is not enough. At a final interview with the president of a major corporation, a highly recommended young woman was asked two important questions:
“Exactly what can you do for us?” and “What are your specialties?”

“I can do almost anything,” the young lady replied.

“Well,” said the president, rising to his feet, “I have no use for anyone who can
do ‘almost’ anything. I’m looking for someone who can do one thing to
perfection.”

Everywhere, we meet men and women who are “almost” successful.
Here is a man who is almost a lawyer but not quite. Here is a woman who is almost a doctor but didn’t finish medical school.

How many people have almost mastered a second language?

More than once I’ve read the story of someone who wanted to be great but didn’t complete the task. The world is full of well-meaning efforts that end up half-completed results.

There’s a great crowd of humanity who can “half do” many things but can’t do one thing to perfection.

Competence is the difference between excellence and mediocrity.

6. CHARACTER

The successful are always open and honest in all business and dealings. Integrity is the basis of trust.

Character is the one quality that cannot be acquired, only earned. Character is the poor man’s capital.

Every thought that enters our mind, every word we utter, every deed we perform, makes its impression upon the innermost fiber of our being, and the result of these impressions is our character.

It’s been anonymously written: “Fame is vapor, popularity is an accident, and money takes wings. The only thing that endures is character.”

5. COURAGE

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.
Courage means the willingness to take risks, to accept challenges. Men and women of courage do not worry about failure; they realize the high cost of success.

To succeed, everyone must learn to deal with mistakes and failures. All champions realize that the path to personal excellence is cluttered with obstacles. Arriving at the top is a process that involves many setbacks. High achievers accept this process courageously, understanding that you can’t stretch your limits without encountering some rough moments along the way.

“Steady, men” shouted P.B.S. Pinchback, a Union army captain fighting for freedom in the all-black Corps d’Afrique. Though outmanned and outnumbered, his last words were : “Before we offer our lives, let’s bring back the colors. Faith isn’t faith until it’s all you’re holding on to!”

It takes courage to stand firmly while others cower in fear; it takes courage to remain in honest poverty when others grow rich by fraud; and it takes great courage to stand alone and fight for what you want.

4. PASSION

Chiseled upon the tomb of an inept, disappointed Pharaoh in ancient Egypt is the epitaph:
“Here lies a ruler who, with the best intentions, never carried out a single plan.”

Many of us go through life searching for breakthroughs.
We would do better if we went through life backed with the power of a single aim.

Some people want success so badly it becomes an all-consuming passion.
They wake up every morning and go to bed each evening thinking only of their goals.

When asked for the key to achievement, Benjamin Carson, the acclaimed neurosurgeon, said, “I had to become a doctor!”
Through symphony and song, Quincy Jones wanted desperately to carve his name on the tablet of success.
This he has done. As a black child living in the Northwest, he overcame a life crushed by poverty and despair. But thanks to an unwavering aim, his results can be heard from Piccadilly to Carnegie Hall.

Passion is one of the most important ingredients in the recipe for success.

Perhaps the biggest break you could ever receive is to find your place and overfill it. “If you set yourself on fire,” said the inimitable Don King, “the world will come to see you burn!”

3. VISION

The successful man or woman has a guiding vision, a dream, a sense of focus. He or she has a clear idea of what he or she wants to have, do, or accomplish.
It is the achiever’s divine right to dream.

The Almighty provides us with control over the power to shape our own thoughts and the privilege of placing them into any pattern of our choice.

Writers like Maya Angelou and Langston Hughes have been labeled geniuses, not because of their poetic prose, but because they show us to ourselves.

We can never see in the world what we do not personally possess.

2.THE “I CAN” CREDO

You are capable of those things you are capable of believing. Or, to put it another way, you should always “act as if you can.” With this right mental attitude, you can then find out the truth regarding your innate potential by living out the experience.

Far too many of us do the opposite: we decide ahead of time that we can’t. We think we’re too old, too young, too poor, too hopeless, not blessed with the right parents. The list goes on and on, developing into a litany of negative, limiting language and beliefs. And the outcome is always the same : “I can’t!”

Negative thinking limits performance. Turn the negative around, and suddenly the impossible becomes possible. When you believe and think “I can,” you activate your motivation, commitment, confidence, concentration, all of which relate directly to maximum achievement. If you think “I can’t,” on the other hand, you sabotage your chances of achieving your goals.

Over the years, I’ve interviewed a wide range of high achievers – from Olympic athletes to Nobel Prize honorees – and during those interviews I’ve noticed one clear and consistent pattern : The most successful people think like winners!

The “I can” belief forms the foundation of their approach to all things in life. They refuse to accept “I can’t” unless they’ve collected objective data showing that a goal is beyond their grasp. Even then, they don’t say “I can’t.” They simply reformulate their goals to move them within reach. The same approach will work for you.

It is a feeling similar to what the Reverend Cecil Murray expressed when he said, “I don’t believe in God. I know there is a God!” As Ghandi said, “God comes to the hungry in the form of food.”
